This Dark Coloured Lager (not a stout!) is appreciated for a full body of malty flavours; whilst still being refreshing and crisp to taste. Dunkel means ‘dark’ in German; and the beer owes its’ colour and hint of coffee & caramel flavours to the roasted barley malt used in the brewing process. This amber coloured lager has been a tradional festival beer enjoyed in large quantities at the Oktoberfest in Munich. In years before refrigeration was available, this beer was brewed in themonth of March (März in German) at the end of the brewing season. Thus, the beer contained a variety of malts and had to be slightly stronger to last until the Oktoberfest. Brewed by Brauhaus Afrika in the Magaliesberg valley next to the Olifantsnek dam near Rustenburg in North West, South Africa.
